Welcome to the Fairbanks Local School District! If you live within the Fairbanks Local School District boundaries, please see below for registration instructions. If you live outside of our district, please see the information on open enrollment.

To enroll your child in the district, please see the steps outlined below:
Step 1: Pre-register your student(s) at: https://ps-frbk.metasolutions.net/public/formbuilder/form.html?formid=26176781
Step 2: Email Kelly Heiss copies of your student's birth certificate, your proof of residence*, and custody paperwork (if applicable). Please list the student's full name, or family's last name for multiple children, in the subject line.
Step 3: Once the documents are verified, you will receive an email from <firstname.lastname@example.org>. This email will contain the information to set up your PowerSchool account and complete the registration forms for your student. Please check your spam folder as some email providers will read this email address as spam.
Step 4: Use the information in the email from PowerSchool to set up your PowerSchool Account or add your new student to your existing PowerSchool account.
Step 5: Click "Forms" within your PowerSchool Account and then "Enrollment." Fill out each form and click "Submit" after each form.
Step 6: Once all forms have been completed, your child will be able to start school. You will receive confirmation from the district or building office on your students start date.
*Accepted documents for Proof of Residence are: Gas/Propane, Water, or Electric bills in the parent/guardians name. It must be the full bill with payment coupon attached. Lease agreements are accepted when all utilities are included in the written lease agreement. Trash, cable or mortgage bills are not accepted. If you do not have a bill in your name, please contact the Administrative Offices.
Items of note:
You will be asked to upload documents to PowerSchool. You will want to take a picture, scan or save a PDF/JPEG of each of the following documents: proof of residence, birth certificate, immunization record and custody documents.
If there is a special situation and you do not have all documents, please reach out to Kelly Heiss.
If you have an existing PowerSchool account, you will add your new student to your account so that you can see all students under one account.
The access ID and password for the student is sent to the email address used for pre-registration. If there are other guardians who need access to the student's PowerSchool information, you would use the same access ID and password provided in the email to set up the student with that guardian's PowerSchool account.
If you are applying for Open Enrollment, do NOT complete the link above. Please contact the administrative offices as 937-349-9000 ext. 1200. Open Enrollment applications are available through the Administrative office from the 2nd Tuesday of April through the 1st Friday in May.

Kindergarten Round-Up for the 2022-2023 school year was held May 5th and 6th, 2022. If you missed round-up, please contact Courtney Willis at 937-349-9000 ext. 2100 or Kelly Heiss at 937-349-9000 ext. 1200. If you are a district resident, you will follow the process above to get your student registered for kindergarten.
For the 2022-2023 school year, incoming kindergartners must be 5 years old by August 1, 2022.
Open Enrollment for 2022-2023 is now closed. Decision letters will be sent to applicants by early July. If you have not received a letter by July 15, 2022, please contact the Administrative Offices.
Provided approval from the Board of Education is approved, the application period for open enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year will start on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 and close on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 4:00pm. The application will be posted on the district's website at 8:00am on April 11, 2023.
The following is the procedure for open enrollment:
The open enrollment application window opens the 2nd Tuesday in April at 8:00AM and will closes the 1st Friday in May at 4PM.
Applicants must email a copy of their proof of residence to Kelly Heiss. Applications without proof of residence will not be considered.
Accepted Proof of Residence documents include:
Utility bills: Only gas, water or electric bills with both service and mailing addresses visible in the parent/guardian's name are accepted. We do not accept trash, phone or cable bills.
Lease agreements (when stated that utilities are included), in the parent/guardian's name
If you are living with someone and do not have a utility or lease in your name, a Residence Affidavit must be completed.
If Board-adopted capacities have not been exceeded, enrollment privileges may extended until the capacities have been met. However, open enrollment applications will not be accepted after the last Friday in September. Families will receive the district's decision on open enrollment applications by letter.
Fairbanks offers a special needs preschool with peer role models.
