This page will provide the information you need for registering a new student, applying for open enrollment, registering your kindergartner, or our preschool program. Access to administrative and school offices is by appointment only. Our campus is currently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you need to speak to a district or office employee face-to-face, drop off paperwork, etc. please contact Kelly Heiss at 937-349-3731 ext. 1200 or kheiss@fairbankspanthers.org, or the appropriate building secretary if you need to make an appointment. School offices are closed for summer beginning June 5, 2020.

If you are seeking to enroll a new student in the Fairbanks Local School District for the 2019-2020 school year or are pre-registering for the 2020-2021 school year, please click here and complete the form.

Welcome to the Fairbanks Local School District! The district has centralized enrollment. You must register your child at the Board of Education office (Entrance B, in front of the Middle School).

To enroll your child in the district, please see the steps outlined below:

Step 1: Download, print and complete the enrollment packet

Step 2: Bring the completed and signed enrollment packet along with the following documents:

  • Proof of Residence- Accepted forms to prove residence are:
    • Utility bills: Only gas, water or electric bills in the parent/guardian's name are accepted. The service and mailing addresses must both be visible. We do not accept trash, phone or cable bills.
    • Lease agreements (when stated that utilities are included), in the parent/guardian's name
    • If you are living with someone and do not have a utility or lease in your name, a Residence Affidavit must be completed.
  • The child's birth certificate (It must be the original, state-issued certificate. We do not accept the "footprints" certificates produced at the hospital.)
  • Immunization records
  • Custody papers, divorce decree, or separation papers

Step 3: Complete Final Forms online emergency medical forms for your child(ren)

Step 4: Once the enrollment paperwork and Final Forms are complete, you will need to contact the building where the child will attend for scheduling:

  • Elementary (Grades Pre-K - 5): Jessica Rausch at 937-349-9000 x.2100
  • Middle School (Grades 6 - 8): Marla Grimes at 937-349-6841 x.1400
  • High School (Grades 9 - 12): Lisa Studenmund at 937-349-3721 x.1302

Step 5: You will receive a letter confirming enrollment from the Board of Education office. This will contain all information to enroll in PowerSchool for you and your child. Please contact the Board of Education office if any information in this letter is not correct.

Typically, it takes a minimum of 24-48 hours to process enrollment paperwork. Your child cannot attend until all enrollment paperwork has been completed. All documents must be provided by the parent/guardian prior to the enrollment of your child in the Fairbanks District.

Open Enrollment


***COVID-19 UPDATE***

Registration had ended for the 2020-2021 school year. 

Due to COVID-19, the application process will be an online form this year. A link to the form will be posted here at 8:00am on Tuesday, April 14th and removed at 4:00pm on Friday, May 1st. Proof of Residence must be emailed to Kelly Heiss for the application to be considered. Please see below for accepted Proof of Residence.


Open enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year has been approved by the Board of Education. The following is the procedure for open enrollment:

The open enrollment application window opens Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at 8:00AM and will close Friday, May 1, 2020 at 4PM.

Applicants must email a copy of their proof of residence to Kelly Heiss. Applications without proof of residence will not be considered.

Accepted Proof of Residence documents include:

  • Utility bills: Only gas, water or electric bills with both service and mailing addresses visible in the parent/guardian's name are accepted. We do not accept trash, phone or cable bills.
  • Lease agreements (when stated that utilities are included), in the parent/guardian's name
  • If you are living with someone and do not have a utility or lease in your name, a Residence Affidavit must be completed.

If Board-adopted capacities have not been exceeded, enrollment privileges may extended until the capacities have been met. However, open enrollment applications will not be accepted after the last Friday in September. Families will receive the district's decision on open enrollment applications by letter.

***COVID-19 UPDATE***

Kindergarten Round-Up will be different for the 2020-2021 school year due to COVID-19. We will not hold the in-person round-up appointments in May as originally planned. We ask that you complete this form and we will contact you over the summer to schedule round-up appointments. Please contact Jessica Rausch at 937-349-9000 x.2100 or Kelly Heiss at 937-349-3731 x.1200 with any additional questions or concerns.


For the 2020-2021 school year, incoming kindergartners must be 5 years old by August 1, 2020.

In addition to the completed kindergarten enrollment packet, you will be asked to provide the following paperwork:

Preschool

Fairbanks offers a special needs preschool with peer role models. If you have a child age 3-5 years old and are concerned about their development, please contact Ann Arthur via email or by phone 937-349-3731 ext. 1201.
