Dear Fairbanks Families,

The health and safety of our students, staff, and families is paramount in Fairbanks Local Schools. We continue to monitor the situation regarding COVID-19 (also known as coronavirus). We are working closely with our health partners and following the guidance provided by local and federal health officials.

Today, we met with Union County Health Department officials. The Union County Health Department will assist us with monitoring the coronavirus and steps that can be taken to prepare for the potential impact to our school and community.

While there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ohio at this time, health officials have recommended preemptively reviewing and refining emergency operation plans in the event of an infectious disease outbreak, and we are doing so. This review includes ensuring educational continuity in the event of school closures, increased absences, or for individual students who are ill or who are following direction from local public health.

As always, we remain committed to ensuring the safety of students, staff, and visitors to our schools. We remind everyone to be diligent about the usual preventative measures, such as frequent and thorough hand washing and staying home when feeling ill.
