FHSCB@Vets May 25:Everyone is invited to the annual FHSCB@Vets concert on Friday, May 25 at 7pm. The Fairbanks High School Concert Band will perform at Veteran's Auditorium in Marysville and present a program of music by John Mackey, Brian Balmages, David Shaffer, Aaron Copland, and more!Tickets are $5 at the door and all proceeds benefit our fine Fairbanks musicians.Details including directions and program are available at www.fairbanksband.org.

Football Cheerleading tryouts: These will begin tonight after school in the MS gym. Be sure to bring the completed Cheerleading form. Tryouts will be help Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week from 3:30 – 5:30.

BASEBALL:The Fairbanks Middle School baseball team defeated Marysville on Friday 16-2. Dylan Griggs had 2 hits and 4 RBI's, Shane Hovis had 3 hits and 3 RBI's, and Kyle Warner pitched a complete game. They finished their season at 4-7.

TRACK:Both the MS Boys and Girls teams placed 3rd out of 8 teams in the NWCC Track and Field meet on Saturday. Kacey Burns was part of 3- 1st place events on Saturday

Spring Sports: Baseball – Lost to West Jefferson last night 12-2. They will play their last game of the season on Friday at Marysville’s Home Rd field at 5:00.Softball – Lost to London last night 20-17. They will play their last game of their season tonight at Urbana for a 5:00 game.

Track – will begin tonight their NWCC league meet at Waynesfield at 5:00. Track athletes are to be dismissed at 2:30 and you need to change quickly and be ready to board the bus in order to leave by 2:45. Please be prompt.

Baseball - Casey Meddles singled and scored the first run. Shane Hovis pitched 5 strong innings giving up only 1 run, and Devan Smith provided a big 2-run double in the sixth to complete the scoring. The final was 7-5. They will play at West Jefferson tonight.

Spring Sports:

Last night Kacey Burns set her 3rd. School record this year by breaking the 400 Meter record that was held by classmate, Halle Smith’s mother, Sandy Nicol Smith from 1977. The new time is 63.4. Almost all track athletes set personal records competiting against Marysville and Dublin Davis. Results will be posted as soon as we get them. The baseball team lost to Marion Grant last night 11-0. The softball team will travel to Alder for a 5;30 game tonight.

Spring Sports: The Baseball team went to 2-3 with a final score of 7-6 in last night’s game against Mechanicsburg. We were down 7-4 with 2 out and nobody on in the bottom of the 6th and rallied to score 2 before the game ended with bases loaded. The team plays Wed at Lincoln Park in Marion against Marion Grant.

7th and 8th Graders: Thanks for the 100% attendance for our first day of OAA’s. 8 th Graders with Math today and tomorrow 7th grade math and 8th grade Science. 7th Graders remember to be quiet in the halls with the 8th grade taking tests.

Tonight the Track teams travel to USV for a tri meet. They will be dismissed at 2:20 so the bus can leave at 2:30. Athletes get changed and to the lobby as fast as 100 meter sprinters do their events.

The softball team will travel to Alder tomorrow night for a 5;30 game at the Middle School while the Track teams will go to Ridgemont.

Reminder to 7th and 8th Graders: OAA testing will begin on Tuesday. You may get breakfast in the MS cafeteria but eat it there, report to your assigned testing room with 2 non-mechanical pencils and something to work on if you finish early. You need to be in the testing rooms by 8:00.

The Pennies for Patients fundraiser begins today. Coins boxes will go home with every student. When the boxes are returned full of change to any NJHS member or Ms. Brown, that student will get to pull a prize. There will be 3 big winners. Fundraiser ends Friday.

Spring Sports: Both the Boys and Girls Track teams finished 8th out of 12 teams at the North Union Relays last night.

One of the big highlights was Kacey Burns setting the 6lb. shot school record on her first time
participation in this event. The throw was 28’7” breaking the old record 9 ½ “.

Spring Sports: Friday night the softball team defeated Urbana 8-7 to bring their record to 1-2 and they will host West Jefferson at Milford tonight at 5:00. The baseball team got 1 of the 2 games in Saturday by defeating Mechanicsburg 5-3 to even their record at 1-1. They will travel to London to play on Tuesday. We are trying to find a date to reschedule the other game missed on Saturday. Tonight the track teams will travel to Waynesfield for a 5;00 meet.

8th Graders: The field trip to Tolles is tomorrow morning. Dress is school appropriate and we will be leaving around 8:30 and returning about 11:30.
