    Members participate in Public Speaking and Job Interview

    Tuesday February 15th, three Fairbanks FFA members attended the Central Sub-District public speaking and job interview career development event held at Kenton High School. Amanda Dellinger, a freshman member, presented the FFA Creed to judges and placed 5th in the competition. The Creed was written by E.M. Tiffany in 1933 and adopted at the 3rd National FFA Convention then revised recently at the 63rd National Convention. All Agriculture Education I students had to memorize parts of the FFA Creed for class and as part of the Greenhand Degree. Amanda stepped up to be our representative in the competition. Cailin Wile also a freshman FFA member wrote and delivered a beginning prepared speech titled “Why buy local!” Her speech emphasized why consumers should buy from locally owned poultry producers verses large chicken factories. Cailin placed 1st in the competition and advances onto the District Public Speaking event held at Elgin High School March 1st.Abby Mayer participated in the Junior Division of the Job Interview competition. She completed a resume and cover letter for a selected job and had to fill out a job application. She then went through a 15 minute mock interview. Afterwards she wrote a follow up letter for the interview. Abby placed 4th in the competition. Eight schools were represented during the sub-district competition.
