Welcome to Fairbanks High School, home of the Panthers! Fairbanks High School is committed to providing young adults with a quality education. We are proud to be recognized as an Excellent High School since 1999 on the State's Report Card.

What will you find at Fairbanks? You will find a staff of professionals with high expectations as well as a staff that cares about students and is willing to go the extra mile to make them successful today and in the future. You will also find a variety of extracurricular activities from music and the arts, to academics and special interests. Athletics is also a part of Fairbanks High School. Our teams compete in the Northwest Central Conference and have brought home league titles as well as individual honors. For students who want to be involved, the opportunities are here and waiting.

FHS Announcements 4/18/14

Girls Soccer Sign-up: Girls interested in playing soccer next year, need to sign up in the office.

Boys Basketball Sign-up:  Boys interested in playing basketball should sign up in the office by Monday. An informational meeting will be held next week.

Prom Tickets: Prom Tickets are available now through April 18th at lunch. Price: $15.00 a person $30.00 a couple. Promenade begins at 7:00. The dance is 8 – 11.

Cross Country Sign-ups: There is a sign-up sheet in the office for students wanting to run cross country next year. Sign up by May 1st. 

Intramural Basketball: Intramural basketball will be held on Monday from 3:30-5pm in the HS Gym. 

Photo Contest: The Union County Foundation is sponsoring a photo contest for a 2015 Calendar that they are planning on producing. There is a flyer with more information on the bulletin board outside the office. If you love photography… this opportunity is for you!

Mobile Dentist: The Mobile Dentist will be here on May 16th. Low cost and No Cost care is available.  Stop in the office for a form.

Red Cross Scholarship: The Red Cross is offering one $125 scholarship to a Fairbanks student.  To be eligible the student must have donated blood or volunteered at one of the blood drives held at Fairbanks this year.  See Mrs. Boggs to get an application.  A committee will select a winner for this scholarship from the applications that are turned in.  Applications are due April 30th.

Yearbook Meeting TODAY: Yearbook will meet today after school in the media center. 

See You at the Pole: The FCA invites students, staff and parents to “See You at the Pole” on May 1st at 7:20 a.m.

Panther 5K Walk/Run: The sophomore class is sponsoring a 5K Walk/Run on April 27th at 2:00 p.m. The event will be held on the Fairbanks Track and surrounding grounds. A walking and running course will be available as well as a 200 meter "Panther Dash" for children. Registration, program sponsors and prize sponsors should contact Kacey or Mr. Rausch at rrausch@fairbanks.k12.oh.us

Writing Club TODAY:  Writing club will meet today after school in the Media Center.

Senior Deadlines: Just a reminder that many scholarships have deadlines approaching. Check your emails this week and watch deadlines.

Fairbanks Board of Education Meeting: The Fairbanks Board of Education meeting in April will be held at the Unionville Center Town Hall at 7:00 pm on April 21st. The public is invited and there will be a 5 year financial forecast presentation by Aaron Johnson our treasurer and a district report card presentation by Bob Humble, our superintendent.

Music Booster Meeting: There is a Music Booster meeting tonight at 7pm in the band room to elect officers.  

Fairbanks Board of Education Meeting: The Fairbanks Board of Education meeting in April will be held at the Unionville Center Town Hall at 7:00 pm on April 21st. The public is invited and there will be a 5 year financial forecast presentation by Aaron Johnson our treasurer and a district report card presentation by Bob Humble, our superintendent.

Help Wanted: Fairbanks Local Schools is looking for summer maintenance help.  Applicants must be 16 years of age or older.  Stop in the Board of Education office to fill out an application.

Spring Sports Schedule Updates:

  • Today’s Track meet at Ben Logan is canceled.
  • Today’s Varsity softball game against Ready is canceled.
  • The Varsity Baseball and Softball teams will play Buckeye Valley at home on Thursday at 5pm.  The JV softball team will play at Buckeye Valley at 5:00 p.m.  The bus will leave at 3:15.
  • The track meet scheduled for April 22nd at Cardington has been moved to April 23rd.

FHS Announcements 4/14/14

Soccer Booster Meeting TONIGHT: The soccer boosters will meet tonight at 7:00pm in the Middle School Cafeteria.  We will be updating everyone on the status of potentially moving soccer games to the football stadium and also will be planning for the upcoming youth soccer camp which will be held June 9-14.  All our welcome to attend the meeting.

Sophomore Class Parents: The Class of 2016 is in need of Parent Volunteers to help in the concession stand on the following dates May 5, 6, and 7. This opportunity was given to the class by the Athletic Boosters and is a great way to help the class raise money for their Junior Prom. Civil Engineering Opportunity:  If you are a current junior interested in Civil Engineering, The American Society of Civil Engineers is sponsoring a Career Day to expose high school juniors to the profession.  The Career Day is April 24th and takes place at The Ohio State University.  The day includes conversation with the Dept. of Civil Engineering, three tours relating to different aspects of the profession and speakers.  There is no cost but students must arrange for their own transportation to and from OSU.  For more information please contact Mrs. Studenmund for a participation form which is due by April 18th.  Reservations are first come, first serve.

Way to Work Program: Adecco is offering a “Way to Work” Program on April 30th from 10:00 a.m.– 4:00 p.m. at their office in Marysville (459 Coleman’s Crossing, Blvd).  They will have stations set up to help registrants in areas such as resume writing, cover letter tips, interviewing skills and more. This is designed for seniors or recent grads hoping to join the work force.  Please check the bulletin board by the cafeteria for a job posting for seniors who are 18 and looking for a great job opportunity this summer at Honda.
