Instant Alert
The Fairbanks Locals Schools has implemented the "Instant Alert Communication System" The system will allow the school to make contact with parents, staff members, and first responders for emergency and general announcements. The system can communicate by text messaging, email, cell phone, and land line. All parents are currently on the system for all communications from the district through the phone number given to the school. At the beginning of the school year an instructional letter was sent home. This letter will explain how you can make this system more user friendly and customize it your needs. A copy of this letter can be found here in pdf format.

Identification of Gifted Students
This annual notification is in accordance with the Fairbanks Local School District Policy and Plan for the Identification of Children Who are Gifted. In Ohio, the term ?Gifted? refers to students who perform or show potential for performing at remarkably high levels of accomplishment when compared to others of their age, experience, or environment and who are identified following the procedures and criteria established by the Ohio Revised Code, Section 3324.03. The district uses a three-stage approach to screen and identify students in the areas of superior cognitive ability, specific academic abilities, creative thinking, and visual and performing arts. A teacher, parent, or other professional may refer students for gifted screening on an ongoing basis. A brochure that outlines the multi-stage procedures, criteria, and assessment instruments is available here [PDF].
