Welcome
The Fairbanks Local School District was founded in 1960. Our school colors are red and white. Our mascot is the panther.

Fairbanks History

The Fairbanks School District was named after Charles W. Fairbanks who was born (1852) and reared in Unionville Center, Ohio. Charles W. Fairbanks graduated from school at Unionville Center and from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1872, where he studied law and was admitted to the bar. After marrying a Marysville resident, they moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, where he became active in politics.

Charles W. Fairbanks was elected to the United States Senate (Republican, Indiana) in 1896, from which he resigned in 1904 to run as Theodore Roosevelt's Vice President. He served as Vice President from 1905 to 1909. Following this, he returned to his law practice in Indiana. Fairbanks died in 1918 and is buried in Indianapolis.

Charles W. Fairbanks, who was born in a log cabin in our school district, made significant and important contributions to the development of our American History.

The 6th grade Lady Panthers wrapped up their Tri-County season with a hard fought tournament. They represented the school well and stepped up to serve in various roles throughout the weekend to ensure that the tournament ran smoothly. They are an impressive group of young ladies with an abundance of Panther Pride!

They'll take that Panther Pride to Amanda Clearcreek for the Amanda Shootout on March 5th and 6th, along with the 4th and 5th grade teams. Be sure to wish them well!

With one week left in our regular season, the 4th grade team (playing in a league with mostly 5th grade teams) stands at 4-5 and tied for 7th (of 12). The 5th graders are 8-1 and in 2nd place in that division. The 6th grade team is 7-4 and in 3rd place in their group.

Come cheer for the girls at our season-end tournament at Fairbanks on 2/20 and 2/21. Games will begin at 10:00 both days.
